Mechanical Services Installation – New Teaching Block, Bowland High School
Mechanical services installation for a new Bowland High School teaching block, delivering heating, ventilation, water, controls and compliant commissioning.
Project Overview
CPL delivered the full mechanical services installation for a new classroom block at Bowland High School in Grindleton, Clitheroe.
The project focused on providing dependable heating, ventilation and water services to support modern teaching spaces, with the right controls and compliance in place for long-term operation.
The Challenge
Working within a live school site meant protecting continuity of existing services, avoiding accidental isolation to occupied areas, and planning connections carefully.
New incoming water and gas supplies had to be brought in from the existing school, with tie-ins completed out of normal working hours to minimise disruption.
Our Solution
We coordinated and installed a complete mechanical package for the new block, including new incoming services, heating distribution sized for future low-carbon upgrades (70/50°C operation), classroom ventilation to BB101 2018 requirements, and integrated controls to monitor and manage performance.
We completed full testing, commissioning, seasonal commissioning and handover documentation.
The Results
- Reliable, modern building services for a new teaching environment
- Future-ready heating design to support decarbonisation options
- Improved indoor air quality through heat recovery ventilation
- Safer science spaces with dedicated gas safety systems
- Clear control, monitoring and handover information for confident operation
